Every year my friends and I get together in a different city for fun.  Our last get together was in Las Vegas.  As you can imagine, there are countless things to do in Vegas.  We had a few very memorable activities, lots of great food and tons of fun. The flight in was long since I flew across the country, but I had good seats and the people around me were quiet so I was happy.

Las Vegas Strip

When we landed the Uber driver let us know it was 122 degrees at that time.  You know it will be hot in Las Vegas and I live in a state that gets hot, but 122 degrees?  You could feel the heat pressing against you.  It was intense.  Luckily we were inside most of the time.

Our hotel was on the strip and pretty decent.  It was a good price so we overlooked some inconveniences.  We spent very little time in our rooms since there were so many activities, so it all worked out.

We did some of the usual site seeing, gambling, and a little shopping.  I loved going to different hotels and seeing all the shows and shops they had. One of the most interesting shops had all kinds of crazy socks.  We spent some time there going through socks with spam on them and other colorful designs.  If you were looking for a unique sock, they had it available.

Hash House a Go Go

The food was fabulous. We enjoyed lots of great meals including burgers and some delicious Sprinkles cupcakes.  One place did stand out.  We went to Hash House a Go Go and it was amazing.  The portions are beyond huge.  One meal could feed three to four people easily.

They bring out these huge biscuits that were bigger than your hand.  They were somewhat cake-like with a sweet glaze on top.  I liked them.

Three of us decided to split the chicken and waffles and we had food left over. So that should give you an idea of the serving size.  The presentation was quite impressive.  They bring syrup on the side for the waffles.

The chicken was sage fried and the waffles were thick. It was tasty and very filling.  I am glad I finally tried them since I had heard so many people rave about the dish.  The atmosphere was nice and relaxed.  We were served relatively quickly even though we had a big group at two tables.

It is a place I would go to again.  I would make sure I was very hungry before I went as the food is extremely filling.  Remember to bring a friend along to split the meal with you.

Once we were done with our tasty meal we were ready for an adventure.  We walked to the Linq to ride on the High Roller.

High Roller

The High Roller is the world’s tallest observation wheel. It is 520 feet in diameter. The wheel takes 30 minutes to make one full revolution. It has 28 glass-enclosed cabins with views of Vegas. Each cabin can hold up to 40 people.

You choose whether you want to ride on a car with an open bar or one that is more family friendly.  Of course, we chose the one with the open bar. Included in your price you get free drinks the entire ride. We had to wait a bit for it to arrive, but it wasn’t too bad.   The car does not stop, it moves very slowly you just get on it quickly.

Everyone was friendly and of course, after a few drinks, the atmosphere was quite festive. The bar had most standard drinks and everyone waited their turn to make sure each person got their drink.

It was amazing how far you could see once you were at the top of the wheel.  The view just kept getting better the higher we got. We went at night so the view was quite spectacular.   There are a lot of lights in Vegas and when you see them from a bird’s eye view it is quite impressive. We loved seeing the sites, taking selfies and just relaxing. It was well worth the price.

We had a lot of fun and were sad when it ended.  Once the car got back to the bottom everyone got off and we headed back to our hotel.

Las Vegas shows

We wanted to see a show and finally decided on the Michael Jackson One show with Cirque du Soleil.  This was my first Vegas show and my first time seeing Cirque du Soleil.  It was spectacular.

The performers came out into the audience and interacted with us.  There were acrobats on ropes suspended above the audience.  Different acts were happening on the main stage, on the side stages, in the aisle, and above your head. You constantly had to look around as there was so much activity going on you didn’t want to miss anything.

We got seats near the front and that was a good choice.  I think all the seats are good, but up front we got to interact more with the performers. One of my friends got pulled into the aisle by a performer and she danced with him.  It was amazing.

There is a storyline that progresses, along with several Michael Jackson songs.  The acrobats performed incredible routines in the air.  I was beyond impressed with the show.  Five stars would not be enough as this show was the best I have ever seen.  I highly recommend you see this if you are in Vegas.

We had a lot of fun on our trip.  It is always great when you get to see friends from all over the country.  We got to catch up on each other’s lives and just relax.  Las Vegas is such an action-packed placed.  There is something for everyone to do.  I enjoyed the trip and recommend going at least once to Vegas just to see all the amazing things there are to do.  It is worth it.
