New York City is an amazing place to visit.  We recently went and saw many of the top sites including the State of Liberty, Empire State building, and Intrepid museum.  I will create posts for each one as there is too many to fit into one post.  You can get so caught up in all the big attractions that you overlook the beauty of the city.  I wanted to share with you some of that beauty.

New York City Bridges

We were fortunate enough to have four days in NYC which allowed us to do many things.  I would strongly recommend getting a City Pass if you want to see the big attractions as it will save you money.  Another tip is that traffic is very bad so it takes a lot longer to get anywhere then you might think.  Just add some extra time to get places and you should be fine.

One thing you notice quickly is that there are a lot of bridges.  Most people know of the Brooklyn bridge which is one of the oldest suspension bridges that opened in 1883.  It is the most iconic bridge in NYC.  Other bridges include the Queensboro, the Manhattan, and the George Washington bridge which is the bridge between New York and New Jersey.

Unique sites

As you travel in the heavy traffic you go over these bridges and get a beautiful view of the city.  We enjoyed seeing different parts of the city and some of the older buildings with unique architecture.

There are many cathedrals including the St. Patrick’s Cathedral which was beautiful.  The detail of the building and the stained glass is stunning.  We saw many unique buildings as we rode through the city.  Our Uber drivers were good about pointing out landmarks.

We drove by the United Nations with all the pretty flags from different countries.  Our driver made sure to show us Trump tower along with other well-known sites.  We also got great tips on where to find the best pizza and cheesecake.  I would recommend trying the pizza while you are there as it is tasty and part of NYC culture.  There are lots of great bakeries with cheesecake and much more.  We got huge chocolate cupcakes that were delicious.

While we were there it started snowing.  We got some great photos of the city covered in snow which were beautiful.  One of my favorites was Central Park in the snow.

Lots of beauty

Four days was not enough to see all the beauty of New York City.  We went to five big attractions so that took a lot of our time.  We did take some time to go to New Jersey to the Barclays Center and watch an ACC championship basketball game.  That was a lot of fun and a different experience.

Our trip was action packed and entertaining.  If you go to New York City definitely see the big attractions.  I recommend the MET, Intrepid Museum, Statue of Liberty and the Empire State building.  If you can, save some time to drive around the city and see all the cathedrals, bridges and other unique places that make NYC so special.  You will be happy you did.
